Son of Otomo no Kanamura. According to the "Nihon Shoki," in the second year of the reign of Emperor Senka (537), when Silla invaded Mimana in Korea, his father Kanamura, on the orders of the Emperor, dispatched Iwa and his younger brother Satehiko to rescue Mimana.
