Born June 29, 1876. After working at the Tokyo Hygienic Laboratory, he became an assistant to Takamine Jokichi in New York in 1900. In the same year, together with Takamine, he became the first in the world to successfully extract and crystallize a hormone from the adrenal gland, which he named adrenaline. After returning to Japan, he joined Sankyo and in 1920 led the domestic production of adrenaline. He passed away on January 11, 1960. He was 83 years old. He was from Hyogo Prefecture.
