Sunbathing - Sunbathing

Japanese:
Sunbathing - Sunbathing

This is a health method that involves exposing the body to sunlight. Infants and young children, especially, are growing vigorously but are also susceptible to illness. For this reason, it is important to be exposed to sunlight in moderation in order to alleviate illness or make it less likely that they will get sick. Sunlight expands the blood vessels in the skin, improving blood circulation, enhancing skin function and increasing resistance to cold. In addition, the ultraviolet rays in sunlight convert ergosterol in the skin into vitamin D, which enhances the assimilation of calcium and phosphorus, promoting bone development and preventing rickets. When sunbathing, wear a hat to protect your head and face from the sun, and be sure to drink fluids after sunbathing.

[Yoshiro Inoue]

The ultraviolet rays contained in sunlight reach the basal layer of the skin and cause spots and wrinkles, and prolonged exposure is thought to cause actinic keratosis and skin cancer. Avoid direct sunlight between 10 am and 2 pm when ultraviolet rays are strongest, and during the summer.
