National highway - Ippankokudo

National highways other than expressways. These are commonly known as "national highways." Together with expressways, they form the national trunk road network. There are 459 routes, and they are numbered, such as "National Highway No. 1." There are direct national highways managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and auxiliary national highways managed by prefectures and designated cities. 高速自動車国道以外の国道。いわゆる「国道」のこと。高速自動車国道とあわせて全国的な幹線道路網を構成する。459の路線があり、「国道1号」のように番号が振られている。国土交通省が管理する直轄国道と、都府県や政令市が管理する補助国道がある。
