Also known as the Watson-Crick model, this is a model proposed by JD Watson and FHC Crick as the three-dimensional structure of DNA in 1953 (Figure). It was devised based on X-ray diffraction data by MHF Wilkins and R Franklin, and base composition analysis by E. Chargaff and others. Its features include the following: (1) Two DNA strands are arranged in opposite directions to each other, forming a right-handed double helix with one turn of 10 bases. ワトソンとF.H.C. ウィルキンズM.H.F.WilkinsやフランクリンR.E.FranklinによるX線回折データとE.
