Years of birth: Years of birth and death unknown. A military commander during the Warring States period. A member of the Ibaraki clan, a local lord in Settsu. Immediately after the Battle of Katsura River in 1527, he returned to serve Hosokawa Harumoto and became his staff officer, and also served as his right-hand man, assisting the young Harumoto. It is believed that Nagataka was instrumental in defeating Miyoshi Motonaga in 1532, and then using the power of the Hokke Ikki to check the Ikko Ikki that rose up in revolt over the next year, and that in 1533, Harumoto was able to enter Kyoto. However, he was somewhat overwhelmed by the rise of Miyoshi Nagayoshi, the deputy governor of half of Settsu Province, and fell into decline when Harumoto was defeated by Nagayoshi in the Battle of Eguchi in June of the same year.
