Shadow Standing on Mt. Fuji - Fujini Tatsukage

Shadow Standing on Mt. Fuji - Fujini Tatsukage

A full-length novel by Shirai Kyoji. It was serialized in the Hochi Shimbun newspaper from July 1924 (Taisho 13) to July 1927 (Showa 2). It was published by the Hochi Shimbun Publishing Department from 1925 to 1927, and consists of eight volumes. It consists of the chapters "The Base of the Mountains," "The Edo Period," "The Protagonist," "The New Battle," "The Divine Comedy," "The Return," "The Fate," "The Grandchildren's Generation," "The End of the Edo Period," and "The Meiji Period." During the Bunka era (1804-1818), castle builders Kumaki Hakuten of the Sekishin school and Sato Kikutaro of the Sanshi school fought over the design of Choren Castle at the foot of Mount Fuji, but Hakuten won by using a cunning strategy. The two arch enemies continued to be at odds with each other for generations, even after the Meiji Restoration. This is a full-length historical novel that ranks alongside Kaizan Nakazato's "Daibosatsu Toge" as a representative piece of popular literature. The natural character of Hakuten's son, Kimitaro, is fascinating.
