Ibaraki [town] - Ibaraki
A town in Higashiibaraki County, central Ibaraki Prefecture. It occupies the central Hitachi Plateau, with Lake Hinuma in the east. Urban areas have developed in Kozuru and Okunoya along the Mito Kaido (National Route 6). The town is involved in diversified farming of rice, horticulture, sericulture, and fruit cultivation, as well as the manufacture of metals and transport equipment. The town sustained damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. Area: 121.58 km2 . Population: 34,513 (2010).
