This former town in Kawabe district occupies a small basin in the middle reaches of the Manose River and the surrounding mountainous areas in the central part of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture. The town produces excellent fields, sweet potatoes, tea, and beef cattle. It also produces timber and is a specialty of Buddhist altars. In December 2007, it merged with Ei Town in Ijuku District and Chiran Town in Kawabe District to become a city, Minamikyushu City. Area: 127.35 km2 . Population: 14,809 (2005).

Kawabe [town]

This is an old town in Hidaka-gun, located in the central part of Wakayama Prefecture, downstream of the Hidaka River. It is mainly an agricultural town, with citrus cultivation such as summer mandarins thriving. The Kisei Main Line runs through the town, and Dojoji Temple is located here. In May 2005, it merged with Nakatsu Village and Miyama Village in Hidaka-gun to become Hidakagawa-cho. It has an area of ​​75.97 km2 and a population of 7,023 (2003).

Kawabe [town]

A town in Kamo District, southern Gifu Prefecture. The main settlement is at the mouth of the Hida River valley, and developed as a key point for boat transport and the Hida Highway, with the Takayama Main Line passing through. Rice and field crops are cultivated here. In recent years, the area has been converted into residential areas. Part of the town is part of the Hida-Kisogawa Quasi-National Park. Area 41.16 km2 . Population 10,593 (2010).

和歌山県中央部,日高川下流域を占める日高郡の旧町。農業を主としてナツミカンなど柑橘(かんきつ)栽培が盛ん。紀勢本線が通じ,道成(どうじょう)寺がある。2005年5月日高郡中津村,美山村と合併し町制,日高川町となる。75.97km2。7023人(2003)。

川辺[町]【かわべ】

岐阜県南部,加茂郡の町。主集落は飛騨川の谷口にあり,舟運と飛騨街道の要所として発達,高山本線が通じる。米作,畑作が行われる。近年は宅地化が進む。一部は飛騨木曾川国定公園に属する。41.16km2。1万593人(2010)。
