Western Uighur Kingdom

Japanese: 西ウイグル王国 - にしウイグルおうこく

The Uighur kingdom was formed from the late 9th century to the end of the 13th century, centered on the Turfan Basin and incorporating the grasslands on the northern foot of the Tianshan Mountains. At its peak, its territory extended all the way to the western Tianshan Mountains, and it is also called the Tianshan Uighur Kingdom. Bishbalik was also an important city from the 9th to 11th centuries, but Karakhojo later served as the royal capital. On the Chinese side, the oasis cities were named after their respective cities, such as Xizhou (Gaochang) Huihui and Guizi Huihui, and the former was also known as Arslan (Lion) Huihui after the king's name.

9世紀後半から13世紀末まで，トゥルファン(吐魯番)盆地を中心とし，天山北麓の牧草地帯をも組み込んで形成されたウイグル族の王国。その領域は最大時には西部天山山脈一帯にまで及び，天山ウイグル王国とも呼ばれる。9～11世紀のころにはビシュバリクも重要な都市であったが，その後はカラホージョが王城として機能した。中国側にはオアシス都市ごとに，都市名を冠して西州(高昌)回鶻，亀茲回鶻などとして，また前者は王名をとって阿薩蘭(アルスラン＝獅子)回鶻としても知られた。
