1205‐73 Arab Christian historian. Born in Cairo and died in Damascus. Known as Ibn al-'Amīd. His major work, the Blessed Corpus, is a world history written in Arabic, which describes the history of the world since the creation of the world by compiling biographies of the main figures of each era, and is an essential source for the study of the history of the Eastern Christian Church. This book was translated into Latin in the 17th century, and later into English and French, and Macin became widely known in Europe under the name Georgius Elmacin.
