Arab Christian historian. Born in Cairo and died in Damascus. Known as Ibn al-'Amīd. His major work, the Blessed Corpus, is a world history written in Arabic, which describes the history of the world since the creation of the world by compiling biographies of the main figures of each era, and is an essential source for the study of the history of the Eastern Christian Church. This book was translated into Latin in the 17th century, and later into English and French, and Macin became widely known in Europe under the name Georgius Elmacin.

アラブのキリスト教徒歴史家。カイロで生まれダマスクスで没す。イブン･アルアミードIbn al‐‘Amīdという名で知られている。彼の主著《祝福された集成》はアラビア語で書かれた世界史で，天地創造以後の歴史を各時代の主要人物の伝記を書き連ねることで叙述しており，東方キリスト教会史の研究には不可欠の史料。この本は17世紀にはラテン語に訳され，その後英語，フランス語訳も出てマキーンはゲオルギウス･エルマキンGeorgius Elmacinの名で広くヨーロッパに知られるようになった。
