The creed adopted by the First Council of Nicaea (325) defines the belief in the Trinity, God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The original text is in Greek. In order to deny Arius' teaching on the subordinate relationship between Father and Son, the creed defines the relationship between the Creator and Christ as homoousios (one substance), a philosophical term that does not appear in the Bible, and adds four anathema clauses, rejecting as heretical the doctrines of the creation, transformation, and non-existence of Christ as God before the incarnation of the body of Christ.

第1ニカエア公会議(325)で採択された信条。父なる神，子なるキリストおよび聖霊の三一神(三位一体)の信仰を定めたもの。原文はギリシア語。アリウスの説いた父と子の従属主義的関係の教えを否定するために，創造主とキリストの関係を〈ホモウシオス(同一実体)〉という聖書に現れない哲学の用語で規定し，さらに四つのアナテマ条項を付加し，神としてのキリストの被造，変化，受肉前の非存在などの教説を異端として退けた。
