A tag attached to the ear of a livestock animal for individual identification. It is used for sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, and other animals whose coats cannot be distinguished by color or other factors. Traditionally, ear cutting or tattooing was used, but nowadays earrings are used, with aluminum tags attached, and animals are strictly identified by symbols and numbers.
