A town in Sannohe County in the southeastern part of Aomori Prefecture. It is located in the middle reaches of the Mabechi River, and is served by the Aoimori Railway. Fruit cultivation, including apples and grapes, is popular. The town also produces rice. It is known for its edible chrysanthemums, known as Abō-miya. In January 2006, the town was incorporated with Nagawa Town and Fukuchi Village in Sannohe County, and the town hall became the former Fukuchi Village Hall. The town sustained damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. Area: 153.12 km2 . 青森県南東部,三戸(さんのへ)郡の町。馬淵(まべち)川中流部にあり,青い森鉄道が通じる。リンゴ,ブドウなどの果樹栽培が盛ん。米も産する。阿房宮の名で知られる食用菊を特産。2006年1月三戸郡名川町,福地村を編入し,町役場を旧福地村役場とした。東日本大震災で,町内において被害が発生。153.12km2。1万9853人(2010)。
