Agostino Depretis

Japanese: デプレーティス - でぷれーてぃす(英語表記)Agostino Depretis
Agostino Depretis
1813‐87
Italian politician. Born into a landowning family in Lombardy. After graduating from the University of Pavia, he worked in local government and managed his own farm. In 1848 he became a member of parliament for the Kingdom of Sardinia, and in 1850 he founded the left-wing newspaper Il Progresso. Until around 1853 he was a major supporter of Mazzini's ideas. After the Kingdom of Italy was established, he served as Minister of Public Works (1862), Minister of the Navy (1866-67), and Minister of Finance (1867). After the "historical right," which had held real political power since the founding of the kingdom, left power in 1876, he remained at the center of power, except for brief periods, as Prime Minister from 1876 to 1879, Minister of the Interior from 1879 to 1881, and Prime Minister from 1881 to 1887.
