A village in Higashitonami County in the southwest of Toyama Prefecture. Population 1,359 (1995). Located at the southern end of the Tonami Plain, the western half is foothills and alluvial fan, while the eastern half is mountainous land on the northern edge of the Ryohaku Mountains. The alluvial fan is used as rice paddy fields, and the mountainous land produces high-quality cedar timber, with a large proportion of village-owned forest. Farmers are often part-time workers, and many commute outside the village. The Iguchi ruins from the late Jomon period are located on the terrace cliffs of the Yamada River.
