Nanjinia (English name) African palm civet

Japanese: ナンジニア（英語表記）African palm civet

Also known as the African palm civet or tree civet. A marten-like mammal of the carnivora family Viverridae. Found in Africa from Sudan to Senegal, Angola, and Rhodesia. Body length 44-58 cm, tail length 46-62 cm, weight 2-5 kg. The body and tail are long, and the limbs are short. The face is relatively round, and the snout is blunt. The body is covered with thick hair that is yellowish-white, chestnut-gray, or brown, and there is a ring-shaped spot on the tail. There are two noticeable white spots on both shoulders. The glands that produce the musky odor are located between the toes and on the underside of the abdomen.

別名アフリカヤシジャコウネコ，キノボリジャコウネコ。テンに似た食肉目ジャコウネコ科の哺乳類。アフリカのスーダンからセネガル，アンゴラ，ローデシアに分布。体長44～58cm，尾長46～62cm，体重2～5kg。胴と尾は長く，四肢が短い。顔は比較的丸く，吻（ふん）はとがらない。体は厚い毛におおわれ，黄白色ないし栗色がかった灰色，または褐色で，尾に輪状斑がある。両肩に二つの白斑があり，目だつ。麝香臭を出す腺は指の間や下腹部にある。
