A medieval samurai family whose main territory was Soga-sho in Sagami Province. Genealogically, they belonged to the Chiba clan, a branch of the Kanmu Heishi clan, but the descendants of Sukeie, who was the first to claim to be Soga, all share the character "Suke" and their descendants, who later moved their base to Mutsu Province, inherited territories in Izu. Considering these facts, it can be said that the family had closer ties to the powerful Ito clan of Izu than to the Chiba clan, whose base was in Shimousa. The woman who became the wife of Sukeie's son Sukenobu was the mother of the Soga brothers, who were famous for their revenge. The Soga brothers' biological father was Kawazu Sukeyasu of the Ito clan, but after Sukeyasu's death, their mother married a Soga man, and so the Soga brothers, who were born by marriage, also took the name Soga.
