Nanga Parbat (mountain)

Japanese: ナンガ・パルバット[山](英語表記)Nanga Parbat
Nanga Parbat (mountain)
Located in the Himalayan range in western Kashmir, Pakistan, this is the ninth highest mountain in the world. It is 8,125m above sea level. Its name means "naked mountain" in Sanskrit. Many talented people were lost during multiple trial climbs by German teams, and it came to be called the Devil's Mountain. In 1953, H. Buhl of the German-Austrian climbing team (led by KM Herrlichkofer) became the first to successfully reach the summit alone after a difficult struggle. In 1983, the Fuji Mountaineering Federation was the first Japanese team to reach the summit. [Karibe Sadao]
