...Common name for arthropods belonging to the order Decapoda of the class Crustacea. They are often called long-tailed crustaceans, but this term is used in contrast to the anomalas, which have curved abdomens (hermit crabs), and the brachyura, which have degenerated abdomens (crabs). Shrimps are broadly divided into laterally flattened bodies suitable for swimming, such as kuruma shrimps and caribou, and transversely flattened bodies suitable for walking, such as spiny lobsters and crayfish (Figure 1). Therefore, in addition to classifying shrimps, hermit crabs, and crabs into long-tailed, anomalas, and brachyura, there is also a classification system in which swimming shrimps are classified as a swimming suborder and walking shrimps, hermit crabs, and crabs are grouped together in a walking suborder. ...
