Nanai people - Nanai tribe (English spelling) Nanaitsy
They are the indigenous people of the area from the middle reaches of the Amur River to the Ussuri River and the Songhua River, which today straddles Khabarovsk Oblast and Primorsky Krai in the Russian Federation, and Heilongjiang Province in China. The Nanai call themselves Gol'dy, and are known in Chinese historical records as Hezhe, and today as Hezhen. The population was just under 12,000 in Russia (1989) and over 4,200 in China (1990). The Nanai language belongs to the Tungusic-Manchu family and forms a group with the languages ​​of the neighboring Ulicchi, Orochi, Udehe, and Orok peoples.
