Natori [city] - Natori
A city in central Miyagi Prefecture, bordering Sendai to the south. It was incorporated as a city in 1958. Masuda, the city's center, developed as a post town on the Oshu Kaido road. Yuriage, at the mouth of the Natori River, was a fishing port and the gateway to Sendai Castle. The lower reaches of the Natori River are fertile plains known as Natori Kōdo, and suburban agriculture, such as dairy farming and fruit and flower cultivation, is thriving. The Tohoku Main Line runs through the city, and Sendai Airport, an international airport, is located in the city, which stretches to Iwanuma City in the southeast, and the Sendai Airport Railroad runs from Natori Station. As a satellite city of Sendai, it is being developed into a residential and industrial area. The city suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 98.17 km2 . 73,134 people (2010).

宮城県中部,仙台市の南に接する市。1958年市制。中心の増田は奥州街道の宿場町として発達。名取川河口の閖上(ゆりあげ)は漁港で,仙台城下への玄関口であった。名取川下流域は名取耕土と呼ばれる肥沃な平野で,酪農や果実・花卉(かき)栽培など近郊農業も盛ん。東北本線が通じ,南東部の岩沼市にかけて国際空港の仙台空港があり,仙台空港鉄道が名取駅から通じる。仙台市の衛星都市として,住宅地化,工業地化が進む。東日本大震災で,市内において被害が発生。98.17km2。7万3134人(2010)。
