Nata Manor - Nata no Sho

Japanese: 名田荘 - なたのしょう

A manor in Onyu County, Wakasa Province. It occupied the area around the Minami River basin in Natasho Village, Fukui Prefecture (now Oi Town), and the area of Nakanada and Kunada in Obama City downstream. Its predecessor was Nada-go, which was Morinobu's private land at the end of the Heian period. In 1168, it was transferred from Morinobu to Iyo no Naishi (wife of Fujiwara no Motofusa) through a land exchange, and it is believed that the main family soon took the name of Tatekensho with Rengeo-in Temple (Sanjusangendo, now Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City) as the head family. It was divided into upper and lower lands, with Kami no Sho consisting of Kamimura, Sakamoto, Nakamura, and Shimomura, and Shimo no Sho consisting of Chimi, Mie, and Tamura. It is said that the lordship was passed down from Iyo no Naishi to her daughter Ohime no Gozen, her son Fujiwara no Sanetada, and her grandson Sanemori, and from then on most of the villages showed a complicated succession history. Later, from the mid-14th century to the late 14th century, most of them were passed on to Tetsuo Giko of Tokuzenji, a subtemple of Daitokuji. Historical documents confirm that Rengeoin continued to hold the position of head of the family until around 1364, but it is believed that the property was subsequently transferred to Tokuzenji. A copy of the Wakasa Province Land Register from 1265 states that the land area was 57 cho and 6 tan, and the head of the family was Enmanin. During the Kamakura and Nanboku-cho periods, taxes were levied by the name, and manor officials included azukaridokoro, geshi, and kumon. In the early Kamakura period, Sueyuki, thought to be the second son of Wakasa Shugo Tsutsumi Tadasue, held the position of land steward, but this was changed during the Jokyu War. In the late Kamakura and Nanboku-cho periods, the temple was invaded by samurai and mountain devotees of Mt. Hiei, and during the subsequent periods of protection by the Isshiki and Takeda clans, the temple was also subject to continued obstruction by their vassals. It became increasingly difficult for Tokuzenji to collect taxes, and by the end of the Warring States period, it had almost completely disappeared. The Abe clan of Kyoto, who are believed to have inherited the position of lord of Kamimura from around the Nanboku-cho period, lived in the area and passed on the beliefs related to Onmyodo.

若狭国遠敷(おにゅう)郡の荘園。現在の福井県名田庄(なたしょう)村（現・おおい町）の南川流域一帯と下流の小浜(おばま)市の中名田・口名田の地域を占めた。平安末期に盛信の私領であった名田郷を前身とする。1168年所領交換により盛信から伊予内侍（藤原基房妻）の領地となり，ほどなく蓮華王(れんげおう)院（三十三間堂，現京都市東山区）を本家として立券荘号したとみられる。上下に分かれ，上荘は上村・坂本・中村・下村，下荘は知見(ちみ)・三重(みえ)・田村からなっていた。領家職は伊予内侍ののち，娘の大姫御前，その子藤原実忠，その外孫実盛と伝えられ，以後大部分の村がそれぞれに複雑な伝領経過を示した。その後14世紀半ばから後期にかけて，それらの大部分は大徳寺の塔頭(たっちゅう)徳禅(とくぜん)寺の徹翁義亨(てっとうぎこう)に伝えられた。蓮華王院の本家職は史料上1364年ころまで存続したことが確認されるが，その後実質的には徳禅寺の所有に帰したとみられる。なお1265年の若狭国惣田数帳写では名田荘57町６反余，本家は円満院とある。鎌倉・南北朝期には年貢が名(みょう)別に賦課され，荘官として預所(あずかりどころ)・下司(げし)・公文(くもん)などがいた。鎌倉初期には若狭守護津々見忠季の次男とみられる季行が地頭職を有したが，承久の乱に際して改替された。また鎌倉末・南北朝期には武士・比叡山山徒らの侵犯があり，続く一色・武田両氏の守護時代にもその被官人らの押妨(おうぼう)が続いた。徳禅寺の年貢収取は次第に困難となり，戦国時代後期にはほとんど消滅した。なお南北朝期ころから上村の領家職を伝領したとみられる京都の安倍氏は当地に居住，陰陽道(おんみょうどう)関係の信仰を伝えた。
