Japanese: ナタネ油(菜種油) - なたねあぶら（英語表記）rapeseed oil

This oil is extracted or pressed from the seeds of plants in the Brassicaceae family. It contains a lot of erucic acid (carbon number 22, monounsaturated) which gives it a brownish yellow color and a distinctive odor, which made it problematic as an edible oil, but through improvements, varieties with less erucic acid have been developed. The physical properties of conventional oils are as follows: melting point -12 to 0°C, _specific gravity d415 = ^0.910 to ^0.918 , refractive index nD20 = 1.472 to 1.476, iodine value 94 to 107, and _it is classified as a semi-drying oil.

アブラナ科アブラナ属の植物の種子から圧搾法または抽出法で採取した油。含有脂肪酸としてはエルカ酸(炭素数22,1不飽和)を多く含むため褐黄色を帯び，特有の臭気をもつことが食用油として問題であったが，改良によりエルカ酸の少ない品種も作られるようになった。従来の一般品の物性は次のとおりである。融点－12～0℃，比重d₄¹⁵＝0.910～0.918，屈折率n_D²⁰＝1.472～1.476，ヨウ素価94～107で，半乾性油に分類される。
