An insect of the Noctuidae family of the Lepidoptera order. Found in the temperate zones of Eurasia. Spreads approximately 3.5-4cm. The forewings are blackish brown, and the hind wings are dark brown. The Kenmon noctuid moths, including this species, are found in temperate zones around the world, with around 20 species found in Japan. The larvae produce tufts of hair, which is unusual for the Noctuidae family. They mainly feed on tree leaves, but this species is often found on low shrubs and herbaceous plants such as knotweed. The name Kenmon comes from the sabre-shaped black pattern on the forewings of some species. [Sugi Shigeo] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
