CARE (English spelling)

Japanese: ケア(英語表記)CARE
CARE (English spelling)
An abbreviation for Cooperative for American Remittances to Everywhere Inc., an American "foreign relief association." Following the outbreak of World War II, the government established the War Relief Administration and the private sector established the American Council on Foreign Service to provide relief to the poor citizens of warring nations. CARE was formed in 1945 by 25 religious and charitable organizations as one of these organizations. It was originally called Cooperative for American Remittances to Europe, and mainly provided food and clothing to European countries. These were called CARE supplies, and many were donated to Japan after the war. It changed its name to its current one in 1952. Since 1960, it has used a special fund to help victims of political issues in Hong Kong, the Gaza Strip, and other areas, as well as Tibetan refugees, to help them become self-sufficient.
