...These protruding parts are called pseudopodia because they look like feet. The shape and number of pseudopodia vary depending on the species of amoeba, and include lamellipodium, which has a rounded tip, filopodia, which is long and sharp, and reticulopodia, which is made up of fused pseudopodia that resemble a net. The axopodia of the heliozoa, another protozoan, have many radially extending axopodia that have a bundle of microtubules in the center.
