…The death toll from the Ansei Tokai earthquake was smaller than this. On November 11, 1855 (October 2, 1855), at around 10 p.m., a direct-hit Edo earthquake occurred with Edo at its center. The epicenter was near the mouth of the Arakawa River (35.65° north latitude, 139.8° east longitude), and the magnitude was said to be 6.9.
