A town in Takaoka district, central Kochi prefecture. Facing Tosa Bay, the town is connected by the Tosa Line and the Kochi Expressway. The main settlement, Kure, developed as a port town for bonito fishing, and, together with Kaminokae and other towns, is a coastal fishing base. The town also practices agriculture, including greenhouse horticulture and floriculture. In January 2006, the town was annexed by Onomi village, Takaoka district. Area: 193.28 km2 . 高知県中部，高岡郡の町。土佐湾に面し，土讃線，高知自動車道が通じる。主集落の久礼(くれ)はカツオ漁業の港町として発達，上ノ加江などとともに沿岸漁業基地となっている。施設園芸，花卉(かき)栽培などの農業も行う。2006年１月高岡郡大野見村を編入。193.28km2。7584人（2010）。
