Founder of the Satsuma Biwa Kinshin-ryu. His real name was Takeo. Born in Tokyo. At the age of 19, he studied Satsuma Biwa under Higo Kinshi, and at the age of 20, he received the name Kinshin from the head of the school, Yoshimizu Kin'o. However, he was not satisfied with the traditional style, so he came up with extravagant techniques and founded a school called "Issui-kai" in 1908 (Meiji 41). This became so popular from the Taisho era to the early Showa era that it surpassed the traditional Satsuma Biwa, and this school is called "Kinshin-ryu" and the traditional school is called "Seifa". Kinshin-ryu is characterized by elegance and refinement, while Seiha is characterized by a simple and heroic style of performance. His works include "Ishidomaru" and many others. His books include "Aigin Biwa Uta no Kenkyu". [Sylvain Guignard] [Reference] |Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
