Mr. Nakazawa

Japanese: 中沢氏 - なかざわうじ

A medieval samurai family. A branch of the Suwa clan, a powerful clan in Shinano Province, well known for its base in Nakazawa-go, Ina County, in the same province. Masashige (Nakazawa Jinta) appears in the Suwa family tree. The names of Nakazawa Shigetsuna and other members of the clan appear in the Azuma Kagami, and since the early Nanboku-cho period, Nakazawa Seishin, Nobutsuna, Joa, Ujitsuna, Hidetsuna, and Yukitsuna have served as magistrates of the Muromachi shogunate. They became magistrates in front of the shogun, and were in charge of important shrines and temples. In the late Muromachi period, the Nakazawa clan's territories were distributed in Tanba Province (Hirose and Hisatomi-sho) and Kyoto (Karasuma and Nishiki-koji Nishiheiyachi). The Nakazawa clan that has been seen in Izumo Province since the Kamakura period is also part of this clan.

中世武家。信濃国の豪族諏訪氏一族で，同国伊那郡中沢郷に拠ったものが著名。諏訪系図に真重(中沢神太)がみえる。《吾妻鏡》に中沢成綱など一族の名がみえ，南北朝初期以来，室町幕府奉行人として中沢性忍･信綱･定阿･氏綱･秀綱･之綱などがいる。彼らは御前奉行となり，有力社寺の担当奉行となった。室町後期，中沢氏の所領は丹波国(広瀬･久富荘)や洛中(烏丸･錦小路西頰屋地)などに分布している。鎌倉期以来出雲国にみえる中沢氏もこの一族。
