... The definition of a supermarket is not necessarily clear. It is a large discount store that sells everyday items and is highly organized by department, with self-service as the rule. Most of them are in the form of chain stores, but depending on the size of the store, larger ones are called supermarkets and smaller ones are called superettes. Small stores such as convenience stores operated under a franchise system are also a type of supermarket. If more than 50% of the sales are clothing and miscellaneous goods, they are called superstores, and even larger ones are called general merchandise stores (GMS). ...
