A town in the Sunto district in eastern Shizuoka prefecture. It borders Numazu and Mishima, and forms part of their residential and industrial districts. It is home to textile, chemical, and machinery industries, and is served by the Gotemba Line and the Shin-Tomei Expressway. Area: 26.63 km2 . Population: 40,763 (2010).
