Joseph of Arimathea

Japanese: ヨセフ[アリマタヤの](英語表記)Joseph
Joseph of Arimathea
A Christian saint. He is thought to have been active in the 1st century, but his birth and death years are unknown. According to the New Testament (Matthew 27:57ff., Luke 23:50ff., etc.), he was a good, wealthy man from Arimathea, a disciple or secret follower of Jesus, who accepted Jesus' body from Pilate after his execution and carefully buried it in a new tomb, wrapping it in linen. In the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus (also known as the Acts of Pilate), he is said to have been the first to see the resurrected Jesus, and so he became a legend by the 4th century.
