Japanese: トンボエダシャク(蜻蛉枝尺) - トンボエダシャク（英語表記）Cystidia stratonice

An insect of the Geometridae family of the Lepidoptera order (illustration). Its wingspan is 5-6cm. Both the body and wings are long and slender, reminiscent of a dragonfly. The body is orange with a series of black markings on the abdomen, and the wings are also light black with large white markings and white bands. The antennae are almost club-shaped. It is distributed from Hokkaido to Yakushima, as well as the Korean Peninsula, southeastern Siberia, China, and India. Adults are diurnal flying insects, and fly around near the larvae's food plants, such as the Celastrus orca, around June. The larvae are looper worms about 4cm long with clear black markings on each segment on a pale yellow background.

鱗翅目シャクガ科の昆虫（イラスト）。翅の開張5～6cm。体，翅とも細長く，トンボを連想させる姿をしている。体は橙色で，腹部に黒紋を連ね，翅も薄黒く，大きな白紋と白帯がある。触角は棍棒状に近い。北海道から屋久島までと，朝鮮半島，シベリア南東部，中国，インドに分布する。成虫は昼飛性で，6月ころ，幼虫の食樹であるツルウメモドキやハコネウツギなどの付近を飛び回る。幼虫は体長4cmくらいのシャクトリムシで，淡黄色の地に鮮明な黒紋を各環節に連ねる。
