A type of membranophone. A large, cup-shaped, single-sided drum used in Iran. It is similar to the Arab and Turkish darbuka, but is larger and has a hollowed-out body. It has various names, such as dombak, dimbik (Kurdish), and tumbuk, but today musicians often call it zarb (rhythm). 膜鳴楽器の一種。イランで使われる大きい盃形の一面鼓。アラブやトルコのダラブッカに似ているが,それより大型で,胴は木をくりぬいてつくられる。ドンバク,ディンビク (クルド語) ,トゥンブークなどいろいろな呼び名があるが,今日音楽家の間ではザルブ zarb (リズム) と呼ばれることが多い。
