…In 1927, after winning a competition to design the headquarters of the League of Nations, he was treated unfairly, and so he talked with S. Giedion. In 1928, he invited progressive architects from around the world, including W. Gropius, to La Salle in Switzerland, and founded CIAM (International Congress of Modern Architecture). From then on, until the 10th CIAM (1956) after the Second World War, CIAM set the most modern issues at each meeting, gathered architects from around the world, made proposals and resolutions, and published charters (the most famous being the Athens Charter of 1933), which had a great influence, but Le Corbusier was always at the center of them. In 1932, HR Hitchcock and PC Johnson defined the International Style, which was seen by many as the ideal form of modern architecture, but Le Corbusier's Villa Stein (1927) and Villa Savoye (1928-31), which were published prior to that, were the most convincing works that provided this. …
