A literary magazine for coterie writers. First published in March 1932 (Showa 7). It ceased publication in September 1944. It has 146 issues. The editor and publisher was Hige Tsuneo, and its coterie writers included Yasuda Yojuro, Tanaka Katsumi, Nakajima Eijiro, Ito Shizuo, Ito Sakio, and Kurahara Shinjiro. The magazine's name comes from Descartes' "cogito, ergo sum" (I think, therefore I am). It was one of the first coterie magazines to be founded in the midst of the Romantic mood following the Manchurian Incident, and was heavily influenced by German Romantics, especially Schlegel and Holderlin, and advocated the elevation of the poetic spirit and glorified Japanese classics. It featured essays such as "One of the Crowned Poets" and "Private Notes on the Izumi Shikibu Family Collection" by Yasuda, as well as poems such as "A Lament for Myself" by Ito, and an advertisement for the "Japanese Romantic School" written by Yasuda that appeared in the magazine caused a great stir.
