Sintered body such as sintered machine parts generally have residual voids, so their mechanical properties are inferior to those made by melting and forging. Therefore, in order to completely eliminate the voids and obtain a high-density sintered body, the sintered body may be subjected to hot forging. This process is called powder forging or sinter forging. This technology emerged during World War II, and was actively researched from the late 1960s to the 1970s. Currently, this technology is used to produce agricultural machinery parts, automobile parts, etc. in the United States, Japan, and other countries.
