Keiko - Keiko

Japanese:
Keiko - Keiko

A Chinese writer from the Three Kingdoms Wei Dynasty. His courtesy name was Shuya. He was from the city of Shao (Anhui Province). He married into the Wei family and served as a Zhongsan Daifu (Grand Master). He liked the ideas of Laozi and Zhuangzi, and along with Ruan Ji, he was one of the central figures in the "Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove." In the latter half of his life, the Sima clan, who would later establish the royal family of Jin, gradually gained power, making it difficult for him to even passively rebel by not supporting the Sima clan. Xi Kang rejected the Sima clan's appeasement tactics with the logic of a hermit and did not abandon his critical stance, which may have been due to his being the Wei family's son-in-law, but also because, as can be seen from his sympathy for the ideas of Laozi and Zhuangzi, he had a strong aversion to power that tried to control even the inner freedom of humans. The tension between Shi Kang and Sima, who was unable to control his hatred while trying to preserve himself, ended in tragedy with Shi Kang's execution. He was implicated in a fabricated crime.

His poetry, which has been praised for its purity, creates a rigid world that does not compromise on popular sensibilities. He was particularly skilled in the old-fashioned four-character style of poetry, with works such as "Poem of Indignation" and "Send a Talented Talent to Join the Army." His prose works include "On Health Care" and "Letter to the Mountains and the Giant Source of Disparity," which is said to have angered Sima. He also had a deep musical background, and "On the Silence of Sorrow and Pleasure" is representative of his musical philosophy. Lu Xun also proofread the 10 volumes of "The Collection of Xi Kang."
