Tomon

A county-level city in the eastern part of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, China. Population: 123,345 (2013). In 1965, it was formed by merging parts of Tumen Town, Yanji County (now Yanji City) and Shixian Town, Wangqing County. It is located on the west side of the confluence of the Tumen River (Tumen River) flowing north and the Gaya River flowing southeast, and is connected to Namyang, North Korea, on the opposite bank by an iron bridge. It is also connected to both the Changtu Line (Changchun-Tumen) and the Mudanjiang Line (Mudanjiang-Tumen), making it a key location for domestic and international transportation. The city collects and distributes timber such as Korean pine, spruce, and larch, and some of it is made into pulp and newsprint at a paper mill in Seokhyun town, 15 kilometers to the north.

中国、吉林(きつりん)省延辺(えんぺん)朝鮮族自治州中東部の県級市。人口12万3345（2013）。1965年延吉(えんきつ)県（現、延吉市）図們鎮と汪清(おうせい)県石峴(せきけん)鎮の一部を合併して市となった。北流する図們江（豆満江(とまんこう)）と南東流する嘎呀(ガヤ)河の合流点の西側にあり、対岸の北朝鮮の南陽(なんよう／ナムヤン)と鉄橋で連絡する。また長図線（長春(ちょうしゅん)―図們）、牡図線（牡丹江(ぼたんこう)―図們）の両鉄道とも接続するので国内外の交通の要地である。チョウセンマツ、トウヒ、カラマツなどの木材を集散し、その一部は北方15キロメートルの石峴鎮にある製紙工場でパルプや新聞紙となる。
