Spanish painter. Born in Rome, died in Madrid. His father, José de Madrazo y Agudo (1781-1859), from Santander, was also a painter, raised in the neoclassical tradition of Mengs. After working in David's studio in Paris, he studied in Rome, where he became friends with Canova and Overbeck. After returning to Spain, he painted historical paintings and portraits in the neoclassical style. Federico studied under his father and stayed in Paris for a long time, where he gained fame, including painting a portrait of the painter Ingres.

スペインの画家。ローマに生まれ，マドリードで没。サンタンデル出身の父ホセJosé de Madrazo y Agudo(1781‐1859)も画家で，メングスの新古典主義の伝統に育ち，パリでダビッドの工房で働いた後ローマに留学，カノーバ，オーバーベックらと親交した。帰国後，新古典主義様式の歴史画や肖像画を描いた。　フェデリコは，父に学んだ後パリに長期滞在し，画家アングルの肖像を描くなど名声を博した。
