1806‐71 British mathematician, also known as De Morgan. Known for De Morgan's laws of mathematical logic. Graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1827. The following year he taught at the newly established University College, London. In 1865 he participated in the founding of the London Mathematical Society and became its first president. Known for his vast knowledge, he produced many books and papers, and was a very active writer.
