Gazella thomsoni; Thomson's gazelle
It is an order of ungulates and a member of the family Bovidae. It is a small gazelle with a body length of 1m and a height of around 60cm. Both males and females have horns of 15-40cm. Its back is brown, its belly is slightly lighter, and it has a wide black band on the side of its body that runs from the base of its forelegs to its hind legs. There is also a black area under the eye. It lives in small groups of around 30 individuals on the grasslands. The group is led by an older female leader. It is preyed upon by carnivores such as cheetahs and hyenas. It is most commonly seen in Kenya and Tanzania in Africa.

偶蹄目ウシ科。体長 1m,体高 60cm内外の小型のガゼル。雌雄ともに 15~40cmの角をもつ。背部は褐色,腹部はやや淡色で,体側に前肢のつけ根から後肢にかけて幅広い黒色の帯がある。また眼の下にも黒色部がある。草原に 30頭ぐらいの小群をつくり生活する。群れは年取った雌のリーダーにより率いられる。チーター,ハイエナなどの肉食獣により捕食される。アフリカのケニア,タンザニアなどに最も普通にみられる。
