Tomono-shi

Japanese: 伴野氏 - とものうじ
Tomono-shi
A warrior family that wielded power mainly in Banno Manor, Saku County, Shinano Province (near Nakagome and Nozawa, Saku City, Nagano Prefecture) from the Kamakura to the Sengoku periods. The Banno clan originated when Ogasawara Nagakiyo of the Kai Genji became land steward of Banno Manor in the early days of the Kamakura Shogunate, and later passed the title on to his sixth son, Tokinaga. Tokinaga was apparently an accomplished archer, and his name appears in the Azuma Kagami as one of the archers known as Yumihajime. After Tokinaga, Tokinao and Nagayasu succeeded him as land steward of Banno Manor. In 1285 (8th year of the Koan era), Nagayasu was executed for his involvement in the Koan War (Shimotsuki Disturbance), and the Banno clan fell into decline.
