Dobroja

Japanese: ドブロジャ
Dobroja
A region stretching from the west coast of the Black Sea to the banks of the Danube River. The north is Romanian, the south Bulgarian. Dobroja is the Romanian name, and Dobruja in Bulgarian. Agriculture, such as barley, grapes, and vegetables, and fishing are thriving, and agricultural and marine product processing, shipbuilding, cement, and metal industries are also carried out. The center is Constanta in the north, and Tolbukhin in the south. Slavic people began to settle in the region after the 6th century, and it belonged to the Kingdom of Bulgaria from the 12th to 14th centuries. In 1878, the north became Romanian, and the south Bulgarian. In 1913, the southern part was occupied by Romania, and it was returned to Bulgaria in 1940. It is known for its complex ethnic composition, and the region is home to the Lipovens, a Russian Orthodox heretic, and the Gagauz, a Turkish Christian people.
