Wrote "Histoire des Mongols, depuis TchinguizKhan jusqu'à Timur Bey ou Tamerlan" (The History of the Mongols from Genghis Khan to Timur Bey, or Tamerlan), commonly known as "Dawson's History of the Mongols", 4 volumes, 1834-35. It is a precise work that makes full use of more than 20 basic historical materials in over 10 languages, including Arabic, Persian, Turkish, and Syriac, and is still in use today, with clearly quoted sources. Also well known are The Peoples of the Caucasus, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea in the Tenth Century, or A Voyage of Abouel-Cassim (The Peoples of the Caucasus and the Black Sea and the People of the Caspian Sea in the Tenth Century, or A Voyage of Abouel-Cassim) (28).
