A town in Kanzaki County, central Hyogo Prefecture, occupying the mountainous area in the middle reaches of the Ichikawa River. The main settlement has developed in the lowlands of the river valley, and is served by the Bantan Line and National Route 312. Konjac and frozen tofu are local specialties, and the town also practices dairy farming, rice and wheat cultivation. Kasagata Shrine is located at the top of Kasagata Mountain in the northeast, and traditional lion dancing is performed in Amaji. 82.67 km2 . Population: 13,288 (2010). 兵庫県中部，市川中流の山地を占める神崎(かんざき)郡の町。河谷の低地に中心集落が発達，播但(ばんたん)線，国道312号線が通じる。コンニャク，凍豆腐を特産，酪農，米麦作も行う。北東端の笠形山頂に笠形神社があり，甘地には古式の獅子舞が伝わる。82.67km2。１万3288人（2010）。
