Special day - Tokuibi

Japanese:
Special day - Tokuibi

It refers to a day on which a certain weather condition has been observed more frequently than on the days before and after. For example, statistical results show that in the past, November 3rd in Tokyo had a higher rate of sunny days and a lower rate of rain than the days before and after. In such cases, November 3rd in Tokyo is said to be an unusual day for sunny days. Just because a day is an unusual day does not mean that the weather will be the same every year. It can rain on November 3rd in Tokyo.

There are also peculiar days that can lead to disasters. There are several days in early August, late August, mid-September, and late September when typhoons are likely to approach Japan. Although it is not necessarily the case that typhoons will strike at these times every year, it is a time to be careful. Also, in the case of the Kanto region, there is a peculiar day in early April when temperatures drop back to low temperatures immediately after a high temperature. April 6th is considered to be a peculiar day for low temperatures, and it is recommended to be careful of frost.

It is not possible to fully explain why unusual days occur, but it is thought that atmospheric pressure patterns tend to exhibit certain patterns around the time of unusual days.
