A former town in Higashiyamanashi-gun, central Yamanashi Prefecture. It occupies the mountain slopes in the northern part of the Kofu Basin and the Fuefuki River alluvial plain, and is served by the Chuo Main Line. It produces a lot of peaches and grapes, and is also known for its prince melons and carp farming. There are many hot springs in the southern part. In October 2004, it merged with Isawa-cho, Misaka-cho, Ichinomiya-cho, Yatsushiro-cho, and Sakaigawa-mura in Higashiyatsushiro-gun to become a city, Fuefuki City. Area: 13.77 km2 .
